Warriors were Set to Go in On Your Mark Meet

Shane RowanWestmont Track and Field started off the 2015 season by hosting six other teams in the On Your Mark Track and Field Meet on Saturday. Both the men's and women's teams took first place in the meet and several Warriors qualified for participation in the NAIA Indoor National Championships, which will be held March 5-7 in Geneva, Ohio. The On Your Mark Meet included both indoor events and outdoor events. Athletes could not use the outdoor events to qualify for nationals, but they could be used to gain an entry into the GSAC Championships next April. The Women's team tallied 264 points to claim first place, outpacing second play California Lutheran who collected 119.5 points. Concordia finished third with 72 points, three more than Vanguard who claimed fourth. A handful of Biola runners tallied 50.5 points for fifth place while William Jessup scored 21 points and Marymount scored nine. Becky Collier finished first in the high jump with an automatic qualifying mark of 1.70 meters (5-7). Collier also finished first in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.02 seconds. Also earning an automatic qualification into nationals was Elysia Mitchell who won the 200 meter dash in time of 24.77 seconds. Mitchell also won the 100 meter dash, completing the race in a time of 12.25 seconds. Freshman Jessica Erikson finished first in the 400 meter run in a time of 57.14 seconds, beating the automatic qualification time by over a second. Kelly Collins took third in the 3,000 meter run, but did so in an automatic qualification time of 10:18.56 [results]
