Track and Field Ready for NationalsPublished by
Westmont will be represented by 19 athletes competing in 10 events this week at the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The championship begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday.
Three athletes will compete in multi-events beginning on Thursday. Becky Collier and Kristan Holding will both compete in the pentathlon. Collier's mark of 4,824 points set at the Sam Adams Multi-Event Invitational is the second best mark in the NAIA this year. Holding set the NAIA's 14th best mark at the same event with 4,338 points. Both athletes earned All-American honors in the pentathlon at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in March.
Ben McCollum will compete in the decathlon which also begins on Thursday. He posted the 11th best mark in the NAIA this season, tallying 6,110 points at the Claremont Classic.
