Westmont Takes 11th in Directors CupPublished by
For the sixth year in a row, Westmont Athletics has finished in the top 20 in the NAIA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup which is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The 11th place finish in the final 2015 standings is the fourth highest in program history. In both 1999 and 2002, the Warriors finished in seventh place. In 1996, the inaugural year of the Directors' Cup Award, Westmont placed 10th.
The Directors' Cup seeks to recognize athletic programs which perform well over a variety of sports. Points are awarded based on the best finishes at the national championships by an institution's teams. A limit of six men's teams and six women's teams may add to the point total.
Westmont tallied 601, just 1.5 points behind Cal State San Marcos in 10th place and 23.5 points ahead of Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) in 12th place.
A national championship runner-up finish by men's basketball earned 90 points for the Warriors while the women's basketball program brought in 83 points as a national championship semifinalist. Read the full article at: blogs.westmont.edu
