Collins Receives Academic All-America Honors

Kelly CollinsIn her first year of eligibility, Kelly Collins of Pleasant Hill has been named a member of the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team. Collins, an English major and philosophy minor who will begin her junior year in the fall, holds a 4.0 GPA. As a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society (for interdisciplinary studies), Collins is the recipient of the Sophomore Scholarship Award for having the highest GPA among Westmont sophomores. She is also a member of Phi Sigma Tau (National Philosophy Honor Society) and Sigma Tau Delta (National English Honor Society). As an athlete, Collins earned All-American honors last November with a 21st place finish at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships in Lawrence, Kansas. Collins finished the 5,000 meter course in a time of 18:28. Collins also qualified for the 5,000 meters race at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Geneva, Ohio where she finished 16th and the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama where she finished 13th.
